Growing up I was very passionate about all types of dolls. There was never a time that I didn’t have one in my arms. Having a handicap, I was constantly given dolls, big ones, little ones, cloth ones… you name it. Years later my Mom told me that at one time she gave over 100 dolls to the local hospital which she hid from me. I was a little terror and guess I was kind of a spoiled brat back then and thinking back I am glad she had given them all good homes.
I had kept a handful of dolls through my teens which my parents gave me and they managed to escape the hands of my 3 brothers, one of which used to bite all the fingers off! another cut their hair! I have 2 Tiny Tears from the 1950’s, one very small and the other a large wooly hair. They are my pride and joy. I started making and selling my own dolls along time ago out of cloth and some with ceramic heads.
Later I got into the world of miniatures and dollhouses became a full time business. That was 32 years ago. I still have loads of heads, hands and feet which I am itching to be put together. Here is some of my work through the ages….. hope you enjoy the pictures.
These are all ceramic head, hands and feet with cloth bodies. I’m sorry the picture isn’t quite clear, it was taken back in the 70’s. The pair of dolls on the right hand side were put in a local doll show and won a red ribbon. Unfortunately, they were destoyed in a flood from Super Storm Sandy. Imagine having them all these years and gone in an instant! It was a shame
